NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (2021-2022)

As per the guidelines of CCS University, Meerut our college started our NSS unit with the registration and selection of 100 NSS volunteers from different departments like Commerce, Teacher Education, Science and Computer Science etc. At the beginning of this academic year NSS annual planning meeting was organized by NSS department of RCCV Girls College on 01-02-21. We got the sanction of NSS unit of 100 students. With the motto “Not Me but You” our college started our NSS activities.

The Seven Day / Night NSS Camp was held at RCCV Girls College from 07-13 March 2021. 50 volunteers registered for this camp with full cooperation, zeal and participated enthusiastically in the camp under the able supervision of Ms. Gitanjali Khurana (College Co-ordinator), Ms. Pallavi Sharma (Programme Officer NSS), Ms. Anju Singh (Convenor, NSS) and Ms. Himani Tyagi (Co-Convenor, NSS) under the guidance of Dr. Neetu Chawla, Principal, RCCV Girls College, Ghaziabad. The main objective of the camp was to evolve the volunteers as a human and as an agent of social change. Its thrust was on activities and lectures that help the volunteers to work for the community, in the community and with the community. Multifarious interactive activities and awareness programmes were held in order to educate the volunteers about certain social, physical, psychological and political phenomenon. Each day began with a physical exercise session, followed by various interactive sessions as well as field work. A week long plan for the special camp was fixed out which is as follow:

Day 1(07/03/22)- Inauguration by plantation

NSS seven-day special camp was started in Guldhar village with plantation. In the series of activities firstly plantation of Medicinal and air purifiers plants was done by green man of India Mr. Vijay pal Bhagel with NSS students. Mr. Bhagel is a renowned environmentalist. In his address he talked about the various environmental problems such as global warming, pollution, deforestation etc. He said that the main cause of these problems is the greediness of human being. In his talk he told students about the importance of planting trees. Students and all members of NSS team took an oath to plant more and more trees for better environment.

Day 2(08/03/22)- Nukkar Natak and Speeches on Women empowerment

On second day a programme was organized to celebrate international women’s Day. Students gave speeches on different topics which women are facing in day-to-day life such as Gender biasness, inequality, female feticide etc. Students also performed Nukkar Natak to spread awareness about Evils against women prevailing in society. RCCV college along with “We care” Foundation inaugurated Sanitary Napkin machine to help girls in facing those difficult days. Ms. Priyanka Bhanot of Bhagirathi foundation also spread awareness about the ill effects of alcohol consumption and any type of doping especially during pregnancy.

Day 3(09/03/22)- Rally and Swach Bharat Abhiyaan on Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat

On third day of the camp NSS students carried out a program to spread awareness about importance of sanitation and hygiene. They cleaned the surroundings of college. They promote cleanliness by talking about the diseases get spread due to water logging and garbage compiling.

Day 4(10/03/22) Rally and Nukkad Natak on Social Media Frauds

On fourth day of the camp NSS students sensitized people about Social Media Frauds. They tell them not to share their bank details with anyone and avoid transacting money in front of a stranger. They also told people about putting screen lock on their phones. NSS students performed Nukkar Natak to augment awareness about what can be done in case any fraud happens.

Day 5(11/03/22) –Yoga session on the theme Fitness ki dose, Har Roz

On fifth day of the camp a yoga session was organized for NSS students theme “Fitness ki dose, Har Roz”. Yoga instructor told students about the benefits of yoga and various exercises. Students practiced many yoga asanas. Students also spread awareness to the primary students on health benefits of exercises by an interactive session.

Day 6(12/03/22)- Poster making on Water Conservation

On sixth day of the camp NSS students made posters on Water conservation. Through their posters they spread message to use water sensibly and different ways to conserve it like Rain water harvesting. They also encourage reuse of water by depicting various ways of reuse of water by in their posters like RO waste water can be used in watering the plants etc. Our country is facing problem of Water scarcity and this sensitization of masses is a need of an hour.

Day 7(13/03/22)- “Anti-Drug Campaign”

The closing ceremony of seven days NSS camp was organized with the theme Anti-drug campaign. Dr. Jitendra Nagar (Chairperson ESDA, Associate Professor in Delhi University), Dr. Sangeeta Singh (Senior Medical Officer) were the chief guests of the event. Other honorable guests -Dr. Veena Dalania (HOD, B.Ed. RCCV Girls College), Mrs. Gitanjali Khurana (Co-Ordinator, RCCV Girls College), Mrs. Parul (Faculty, Government Primary School, Guldhar) were also present. The ceremony started with the Sarasvati Pooja and lamp lightening by the esteemed guests. Then Guests were welcomed with the planter. After NSS song program started with the welcome dance of students. Vishakha and her group presented Nukkar Natak on the theme of an event. Prekshi, NSS volunteer presented poem and Maseera presented a Nazm in the program. Program officer Mrs. Pallavi Sharma presented a short report of all the activities done in these seven days. Chief guest Dr. Sangeeta told students about the harmful effects of taking drugs. She made students aware about the various diseases that occur due to the long-term use of any type of drug. Her lecture was very informative. Dr. Jitendra Nagar shared his life experiences with the students to made them understand about the long-term harmful effects of drugs.

All activities were taking place under the guidance of principal Dr. Neetu Chawla and program officer Mrs. Pallavi Sharma. Mrs. Gitanjali Khurana, Mrs. Himani, Mrs. Neha Maheshwari, Ms. Shikha Tiwari, Ms. Shivani, Ms. Shikha and Mr. Rohit Maheshwari were also put lots of effort to make all the activities successful.
